🌍Ocean Trade Faces Pressure as Overcapacity Builds

Despite weak demand, ocean carriers have ramped up capacity on Asia-Europe routes, with a 27% increase since Chinese New Year, far exceeding seasonal norms. Sea-Intelligence points to this oversupply, combined with softening global volumes and new US tariffs, as key drivers behind the steep fall in spot rates and growing concerns of overcapacity in 2025.
